Taiwan's biggest robotics and automation trade show opens
Taiwan opened its largest industrial trade show with humanoid robots as the main attraction, a good sign for Taiwanese component makers riding the automation boom.
- Intelligent Asia 2026 opened in Taipei with 1,200 exhibitors from 16 countries, running through Aug. 22.
- The robot supply chain is the centerpiece — AI chips, vision systems, sensors, motors and joint parts that humanoid robots need.
- Taiwan's government is putting NT$229.3 billion (US$7.2 billion) into tech in next year's budget, up 12.8%, with the AI slice up 25%.
- Big names on the floor include Techman Robot, Advantech, HIWIN, Solomon and Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
- The pitch is cheap labor is running out: low birth rates and high wages are pushing companies toward robots for dull warehouse, port and delivery work.
Outlook: Taiwan is betting its next growth story is robot parts, the same way it won the chip business.
