Pingtung County launches post-flood subsidies, up to NT$45,000 per household
Pingtung County has rolled out a series of cash subsidies following severe torrential rain damage, offering relief to flooded households, farmers, fishers and livestock producers, and owners of water-damaged vehicles.
- Homes or storefronts flooded to a depth of more than 50 centimetres qualify for a combined central and county government subsidy of up to NT$45,000; those flooded to less than 50 centimetres are eligible for NT$10,000 in special relief.
- Water-damaged cars and heavy motorcycles qualify for NT$20,000, and ordinary scooters for NT$2,000, with applications closing on 30 September.
- The Ministry of Agriculture has designated Pingtung as an area eligible for cash relief and low-interest loans covering all product categories, with eligible crops assessed leniently and without on-site inspection.
- Disaster victims may also apply for tax reductions and exemptions, with County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi calling for the process to be handled quickly, simply and generously.
Outlook: Applications will open in stages at township and city offices, and disaster victims are advised to photograph the damage as evidence before cleaning up. Agricultural relief closes in early September, while vehicle subsidies run until the end of the month.
