DHHL breaks ground on new lots in West Oahu
Hawaii's Department of Hawaiian Home Lands has started work on new homestead lots on Oahu, good news for Native Hawaiian families who have waited years for land.
- Ground was broken on 24 lots spread across four residential communities on Oahu.
- Kapolei gets 16 of the lots and Waianae gets the other eight.
- Families on the homestead waiting list are the ones who stand to benefit.
- Homes still have to be built before anyone can move in, so awards come later.
Outlook: Construction is expected to start soon, with lots awarded to families once homes go up.
