A record-setting adoption month on Oʻahu cleared hundreds of animals out of shelters, good news for pets and for shelter capacity.

• 686 pets found homes across Oʻahu last month.
• A fee-waived adoption drive backed by Hill's Pet Nutrition drove the surge.
• Emptier shelters mean more room for the next wave of strays and surrenders.

Outlook: Expect similar sponsored adoption pushes as shelters fill back up.
