The Kuomintang is presenting a united front in the New Taipei mayoral race, a positive signal for the pan-blue camp's electoral prospects.

• Lee Si-chuan will go to the New Taipei City Election Commission to complete his candidacy registration on the final day of registration for the nine-in-one local elections.
• Incumbent Mayor Hou Yu-ih will be there in person to accompany him, symbolising both a handover and his backing to the end.
• His Democratic Progressive Party opponent, Su Chiao-hui, has already registered ahead of time, setting up a formal head-to-head contest.
• City council candidates from districts across New Taipei will appear on the same day, as the pan-blue camp seeks to build overall momentum.

Outlook: once registration closes, the New Taipei mayoral race will enter the formal campaign phase between Lee Si-chuan and Su Chiao-hui.
