Central Oahu park reopens after storm debris removal

Sep 04, 2026

Patsy Mink Central Oahu Regional Park is fully open again, good news for local sports leagues and families who lost the fields for months.

  • The park had been closed while it served as a holding site for debris from the March Kona low storms.
  • City parks crews say the grounds are safe again for recreation and sports.
  • Soil was lab tested before and after the debris was stored there, and nothing harmful turned up.
  • The reopening closes out one of the last visible cleanup sites from those storms.

Outlook: Normal park and field use resumes right away, with no further restrictions expected.
