New Chinese restaurant Me Lu opening at McCully Shopping Center

Sep 04, 2026

A new Chinese restaurant called Me Lu is opening at Honolulu's McCully Shopping Center, good news for diners who want variety without committing to big plates.

  • Me Lu serves small, individual-sized bowls so a group can sample many dishes instead of sharing large platters.
  • The kitchen runs from breakfast through dinner without closing, starting at 8 a.m. and going until about 10 p.m.
  • Chinese breakfast is the twist — dumplings, noodles, and steamed buns with pork inside, built for grab-and-go.
  • The shopping center is filling up: Hokkaido Penguin Bakery is under renovation and due to open around late October or early November.
  • Parking is changing at the end of September — still free, but shoppers will have to scan a QR code at the restaurant to get their two or three hours validated.

Outlook: Me Lu opens alongside a wave of new tenants that should pull more foot traffic to McCully this fall.
