The University of Hawaii and Down to Earth have launched a joint smoothie, with part of the sales going to support student athletes.

• A new vegan smoothie is on sale now at Down to Earth stores on Oahu and Maui.
• It is built around coconut sorbet, plant-based milk, coconut cream, frozen banana, agave and almond extract.
• Toppings include vegan chocolate, toasted coconut and crushed macadamia nuts.
• A share of the money from each sale goes to University of Hawaii student athletes.

Outlook: Sales will show whether the tie-up brings in enough support to be worth repeating.
