New rooftop pregame party set for UH home opener

Sep 04, 2026

The University of Hawaii is adding a new pregame party for Saturday's football home opener against UNLV, a boost for local fans and the campus economy.

  • The party runs on the fifth floor of the campus parking structure, starting three hours before kickoff, with food vendors, a beer garden, VIP areas and a reggae concert.
  • Saturday's game is a "whiteout" — fans are asked to wear white, and the first 2,500 through the gate get a free shirt.
  • Tickets are expected to sell out before kickoff, so buying direct rather than through resale is the cheaper route.
  • New stadium seating debuts too: VIP tables with food service and a section with double the legroom.
  • Hawaii has moved its football program to the Mountain West conference, and the university president now sits on its executive committee.

Outlook: Hurricane season still hangs over the weekend, but forecasters expect only rain early next week, so the game and five more home dates should go ahead as planned.
