Kauai lifts water conservation notice for Hanalei; several other systems remain restricted
Kauai is easing water restrictions in some areas after a storm knocked out power and strained water systems, good news for many residents but not yet for everyone.
- Water conservation notices have been lifted for Hanalei, Kalaheo, Koloa, Poipu, Lihue, and Kapaa including Puhi.
- Restrictions are still in place for Anahola, Anini, Wainiha, and Kilauea.
- People in those areas should use water only for essential needs and avoid any water that might be contaminated.
- Power is mostly back on the island, but 3,300 customers are still in the dark.
- The Red Cross is still helping the hardest-hit communities.
Outlook: The remaining restrictions should be lifted as crews restore power and water systems in the north and east shore areas.
