'Mele for Maui' concert honors Lahaina community
A free sunset concert on Maui is bringing the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra to Lahaina as a tribute to the community's recovery, a feel-good event for residents and visitors alike.
- The Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Dane Lamb, will perform "Mele for Maui" on the lawn of the Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows.
- Up to 70 musicians will share the stage with Hawaiian artists including Raiatea Helm, Keola Beamer, Jeff Peterson, John Cruz, and Carl Camarillo.
- Music starts at sunset, with gates opening in the late afternoon so people can shop from 20 local Maui vendors first.
- The event is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and low chairs.
- The concert is billed as a celebration of Maui's resilience after the Lahaina wildfires.
Outlook: The performance will be streamed live for those who can't make it in person.
