The Hawaii Foodbank handed out free emergency meal kits to hundreds of families, a positive step for Hawaii residents getting ready for the next big storm.

• Cars lined up at the Foodbank's Mapunapuna site to collect free Survivor Daily Ration boxes.
• Each box holds 10 days of meals, and families could take one box per household member.
• The kits are open to everyone, not just people struggling with hunger — the goal is that no one is caught unprepared when a disaster hits.
• The Foodbank is also pointing people to guides on building a full disaster kit.

Outlook: More giveaway events are planned as the Foodbank secures additional kits, and a waiting list is open for updates on the next distribution.
