KIUC restores 96% of Kauai power after Hurricane Lowell
Power is back for most of Kauai after Hurricane Lowell, good news for the island, though a few North Shore and upland communities are still waiting.
- More than 96% of the island has electricity again.
- KIUC crews are now focused on the stretch between Moloaa and Hanalei.
- Fallen trees and storm debris are keeping crews from safely fixing damaged lines in Wainiha, Haena and Kokee.
- The state land department is slowly reopening parks and public areas.
Outlook: The remaining North Shore areas should have power back within the next few days.
