A deadly head-on crash on Hawaii Island last month has now been traced to a driver who crossed into oncoming traffic.

• A 45-year-old man's SUV drifted over the centerline on Aloha Boulevard and hit another car head-on.
• He died at the scene and was not wearing a seat belt.
• The other driver, a 21-year-old woman, was badly hurt but has since been released from the hospital.
• Police have now released the dead man's name as Jay Spurgeon.

Outlook: The investigation into what caused the SUV to cross the centerline is expected to continue.
