Schools across Maui and Hawaii Island are coming back after a fire, but four Lahaina campuses stay shut — bad news for families there who now have to scramble again for childcare.

• Four Lahaina schools are closed: King Kamehameha III Elementary, Princess Nahienaena Elementary, Lahaina Intermediate, and Lahainaluna High.
• Most other campuses on Maui and Hawaii Island are reopening.
• The state Education Department says the fire did not cause major damage to the buildings.
• Supplies and medications left behind in the rush are part of what families are still sorting out.

Outlook: With no serious damage reported, the Lahaina campuses are expected to reopen within days.
