Rebel Souljahz and Sonic Hawaiʻi support Waipahu High School
Local community wins in Hawaiʻi: a school fundraiser, a new health-plan executive, and a grant that expands dental care on the Big Island.
- Sonic Hawaiʻi brought its trailer to Waipahu High School's homecoming football game and served custom ice cream sundaes, with all the money going back to the school.
- Trini Koiki starts November 2 as vice president of strategic communications and marketing at HMSA, after leading Make-A-Wish Hawaiʻi as president and CEO.
- Hawaii Dental Service Foundation gave a grant to the Hamakua Kohala Health Dental Clinic in Waimea to grow from three to five dental chairs at a new location.
- The expansion should reach 500 more residents, in an area where this clinic is the only dental provider taking Medicaid and offering income-based discounts.
Outlook: The dental clinic expects to serve the additional patients over the coming year, and Koiki takes her new role in early November.
