New Exhibits Bring Haleakalā Stories to Life
Haleakalā National Park has opened new visitor center exhibits, good news for Maui residents and travelers who want the mountain's story told in its own language.
- The exhibits at the Haleakalā visitor center are presented in both Hawaiian and English.
- The National Park Service built them with kūpuna and experts in Hawaiian language, culture, anthropology, and exhibit design.
- Elsewhere in the islands, Foodland plans a new 27,000-square-foot store at Kapalakai in Kīhei for February 2028, with the 1969-era location staying open until then.
- Kalama Kim, an Oʻahu native with more than 20 years in real estate, was named Hawaii Realtors 2026 Realtor of the Year.
- Kauaʻi's police crime scene and lab team was recognized by Mayor Kawakami during National Forensic Science Week.
Outlook: The Haleakalā exhibits are open now, and Hilo's Manono Street Marketplace kicks off holiday craft fairs in late November.
