StretchLab and Hawaiian Humane Society host Kūpuna for Kūpuna senior dog adoption event
Two Honolulu organizations are teaming up for a pair of feel-good community events aimed at getting older residents moving and older shelter dogs adopted.
- StretchLab's Honolulu studio hosts Kūpuna for Kūpuna on October 10 at 3 p.m., an adoption event pairing seniors with senior dogs.
- The Hawaiian Humane Society will bring adoptable dogs to the studio, with members and the general public invited.
- The partnership grew out of a Hawaii Leadership Academy class, where the idea of keeping people active met the shelter's need for more adoptions.
- The bigger PetWalk event follows with free adoptions all weekend, a costume contest, a photo booth, food and retail vendors, and pet agility courses.
- A "senior stroll" option offers a quieter, shorter walk for older pets and their people; registration is $35 and includes a t-shirt.
Outlook: Expect a busy adoption weekend in Honolulu, with free adoptions likely to clear out some of the shelter's longer-staying dogs.
