Hawaiian Humane Society's Pet Walk
Honolulu's biggest animal-welfare fundraiser is back for its 36th year, good news for Oahu shelter pets and for anyone thinking about adopting.
- Pet Walk runs the weekend of October 24–25, starting early at Kaka'ako with a group stretch and a short walk around the park.
- Money raised helps care for the more than 13,000 animals that come through Hawaiian Humane each year.
- Adoption fees are fully waived that weekend, both at the event and at the two Hawaiian Humane campuses.
- Pet Hospitals of Hawaii is the adoption sponsor for a second year; a pet expo, local food, and a pets-and-people costume contest round out the day.
- Adoptable dogs include Denny's, a five-year-old poi dog found wandering in Waianae who is house trained, good with kids, and happy on a leash.
Outlook: Expect a push of adoptions over that weekend, which frees up shelter space for the next round of animals coming in.
