Three members of a Hawaii family were killed in a fiery highway crash in New Mexico, a heavy loss for their community on Oahu.

• A commercial truck crossed the median and hit the car carrying the family, killing all three.
• The truck then struck a second commercial truck, which caught fire and killed its driver.
• The victims, ranging in age from their twenties to their sixties, were all from Waikele.
• One of them worked at a local high and intermediate school, which is now arranging support for students and staff.

Outlook: Police are still piecing together why the truck crossed into oncoming traffic.
