盧秀燕:國民黨正整合 力拚2028重返執政
Taiwan's opposition KMT is pulling its big-name politicians into one camp for the 2028 presidential race, a positive sign for the party and a warning shot for the ruling DPP.
- Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen said the KMT is uniting behind a shared goal of winning back power in 2028.
- Her joint appearance last week with legislative speaker Han Kuo-yu and Taipei Mayor Lu Chiang Wan-an is being read as the start of a team effort.
- Past KMT candidates ran alone; the new pitch is that a group goes faster and further together.
- Lu also pressed President Lai Ching-te and Premier Cho Jung-tai to visit the flooded south, where several counties are underwater.
Outlook: Local elections in 2026 come first, and they will be the first real test of whether this new unity holds.
